Patrol Officers with the 12th Street Division responded to a subject down call for service at 7:49 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2022. When officers arrived, they discovered an unknown black male deceased from injuries caused by an unknown object. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded to the scene and transported the body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and positive identification.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. During the course of the investigation, 29-year-old James Lambert was developed as a suspect in this incident. Mr. Lambert was located and taken into custody without incident. After further investigation, he was subsequently charged with Capital Murder and transported to PCRJ without incident. The next of kin notification is pending positive identification. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Calvin Perkins.
