What: Volunteers Install Free Smoke Alarms for Little Rock Residents

When: Monday, August 13^th – 1:00 p.m.

Where: Little Rock Fire Department Central Station – corner of Chester & 7^th Streets

Few of us realize how easily — and how quickly — fire can harm our loved ones. Fortunately, there is a simple, affordable way to help prevent this from happening: the smoke alarm. On Monday, August 13^th, the Little Rock Fire Department will introduce some of their new volunteers who will install free smoke alarms for Little Rock residents.

“This is our Save a Life smoke alarm program,” said LRFD Chief Gregory Summers.  “A grant awarded last year provided smoke alarms as well as carbon monoxide alarms.  We want to introduce our Fire Corps Volunteers who will install these important life saving devices at no charge to the citizens of Little Rock.”

Fire Corps is a national organization that utilizes a volunteer base to assist fire departments with various non-emergency functions. The LRFD will use Fire Corps to take the lead in installing requested smoke alarms, conducting home safety checks & will assist in conducting some fire safety presentations. A free home fire safety inspection can also be conducted with the installation.  Up to 3 smoke alarms and 1 carbon monoxide detector per household can be installed if needed.
