The City of Little Rock Vehicle Storage Facility will open Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. to allow those whose vehicles were towed from Little Rock streets to pick them up. The facility will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday.
The storage facility is located at 7801 Jamison Road, 72209 and can be reached by calling (501) 918-4260.
Public Works crews have reported that most roads, including inside neighborhoods, throughout Little Rock are cleared and crews continue to be on the streets looking for icy patches.
In preparation for potential winter weather on Monday and Tuesday, public works crews will continue to work 24-hours a day.
UPDATE at 3:30 p.m.
With roads quickly melting this afternoon, some crews on the snow routes are reporting the roads on their routes are in good condition. In response, public works is moving those trucks into residential areas.
Over the next couple of hours it is likely all the trucks will be moved to residential areas looking for icy locations.
LRPD released an unofficial accident count. Since Friday at 1800 hours to Saturday at 1500 hours LRPD has had 151 calls to accidents of all types. There have been 36 in the Downtown Division, 92 in the Northwest Division and 23 in the Southwest Division.
UPDATE at 1:30 p.m.
Little Rock Public Works has cleared and opened all roads except Reservoir Road which remains closed at Rodney Parham and Cantrell.
Below is a map of the eight primary snow routes that Public Works crews first clear after a winter weather event.
LITTLE ROCK -- The City of Little Rock is responding to the winter weather event with a full compliment of staff across multiple City Departments.
"City of Little Rock staff is working around the clock to get streets cleared and to keep residents safe. At this time, I encourage citizens to exercise extreme caution if they must get out on the roads," said City Manager Bruce T. Moore.
"City Public Works crews, Police, Fire and emergency responders are out in full force. I ask citizens to give them the space to work," Moore continued.
The Little Rock Public Works Department had a full night crew working Friday--approximately 40 staff members--and brought in a full day crew Saturday morning--approximately 70 staff members--to use all operational equipment, including nine large spreader trucks, two small spreader trucks and two large road graders. Staff is working on the City's eight primary snow routes to clear major collectors and arterials to facilitate travel across the City. Fleet Services staff are working to keep vehicles and equipment operational.
Public Works crews will continue to work 24 hours a day until operations are back to normal. In addition to clearing current snowfall, crews will be preparing for more potential winter weather forecasted to enter the region Monday and Tuesday.
Currently, the following streets are closed in the City:
- Reservoir Road at Rodney Parham and Cantrell (entire length of the road)
- Green Mountain between Ethan Allen and Mara Lynn
- Bowman between Chenal and Markham
- Roosevelt between Main and Broadway
- Colonel Glenn at Bowman (not the entire road, just one side of a hill)
If a vehicle is towed by LRPD, the owner should call the Vehicle Storage Facility at (501) 918-4260. The City will not charge a storage or administration fee for these vehicles. A towing charge will be charged by the towing company.
The Little Rock Zoo is closed today and essential staff have reported to work to care for the animals. Zoo staff will evaluate whether to open tomorrow.
The Little Rock Animal Village is closed and plans to reopen on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
