The Future of Race Relations

The University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service invites you to a Public Forum on the “Future of Race Relations,” followed by a book signing of Conservations: William Jefferson Clinton – From Hope to Harlem by White House diarist Janis Kearney.

Public Forum Participants
*Janis Kearney, joined the Clinton-Gore presidential campaign in 1992 serving as the director of minority media outreach. She was named a fellow at Harvard University’s W.E.B. DuBois Institute in 2001, where she wrote Conservations: William Jefferson Clinton – From Hope to Harlem.

*C. Payne Lucas, of North Carolina, was the co-founder, and 30-year president of Africare, International; a non-profit charity program that serves African nations. During his Peace Corps tenure, he served as country director in Togo, country director in Niger, and director of the African Region.

*Bob Nash, of Chicago, served as President Clinton’s Director of Presidential Personnel from 1994 to 2001. Prior to that role he served as Under Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.

*Lottie Shackelford, a Philander Smith College graduate, made history by becoming the first woman elected Mayor of Little Rock. She is the Senior Executive Vice President of Global USA, Inc.

*Wellington Webb, spent 12 years as the leader of the Denver’s Mile High City, overseeing an investment of $7 billion in infrastructure. In 2003, the former Mayor founded Webb Group International, working with businesses and cities on economic development projects and public relations.

*Carol Willis, has been an adviser to President Clinton since 1983 on issues impacting African-Americans. Willis is currently a business proprietor in the state of Arkansas and a national political consultant
