What:  Trail Closure

When: July 9^th – July 30^th

Where: Arkansas River Trail

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department (AHTD) is rebuilding a section of Cantrell Road to improve safety.  The job starts Monday July 9^th, 2012.  For approximately two (2) weeks during the course of construction, they plan to close the River Trail at the Union Pacific Railroad Overpass (east of the Episcopal School Campus) while they construct new storm sewers and sidewalks. The AHTD plans to open a temporary trail through the area after that portion of the work is complete. However, construction will continue for several months to come.

Everyone involved is aware that the trail is very popular and the AHTD is trying to minimize the time the trail is closed. Unfortunately, this is the only route through the area because of the railroad tracks. The nearest other crossing is at the Markham and 3^rd Streets viaduct.
