UNIVERSITY AVENUE LANE CLOSURE NOTICE
BETWEEN HAWTHORNE & “Z” STREET CLOSED THROUGH SEPTEMBER
(Little Rock, AR—April 15, 2009) Little Rock Public Works Department reports temporary closure of one lane of North University Avenue between Hawthorne and “Z” Streets.
This will start on Friday, April 17, 2009, and continue for twenty-three (23) weeks.
The closure is necessary because of installation by Little Rock Wastewater of a new sewer main along the east side of North University.
South-bound traffic on University will be detoured west on Brentwood Road to McKinley Street. North-bound traffic will continue on University.
In addition, “W,” “X,” and “Y” Streets will be closed to through traffic from University to Grant Street.
The lane will be closed each day from 9:00am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday in order to allow for peak traffic flows. The street will be open fully each night.
Motorists in the area are encouraged to use extra caution in the area because of utility workers as well as drivers unfamiliar with the closure. In addition, though the street will be open at night on weekends, motorists are encouraged to drive with care due to the presence of barricades, equipment, and/or metal plates in the street.
