(LITTLE ROCK, AR) – The Arkansas Arts Center announces the results for the Young Arkansas Artists 48th Annual exhibition, sponsored by JPMS Cox, PLLC, Sam and Janet Alley and Bob and Laurie Osborne. The exhibition will be held in the Alice Pratt Brown Atrium and the Jeannette Edris Rockefeller Gallery, April 3 - May 24, 2009.

Organized by the Arkansas Arts Center with the cooperation of the Arkansas Department of Education, the Young Arkansas Artists exhibition showcases artworks of all media created by students in kindergarten through 12th grade in Arkansas schools- both public and private. Teachers across the state submitted 709 artworks for consideration. Jurors selected 164 artworks representing 85 schools across Arkansas.

A jury of 71 members of the Arkansas Arts Educators Association selected the works to be featured in the exhibition. Awards for the Young Arkansas Artists 48th Annual Exhibition were chosen by Don Lee, Chairman of the Department of Art at the University of Arkansas Fort Smith. Lee selected one “Best of Class” and two “Honorable Mention” awards for each grade level. Monetary awards, funded by Arkansas Children’s Hospital, are given to each winner’s school to support the funding of art programs.
