At 11:00 p.m. on May 28, 2023, 12th Street Patrol Officers responded to a shots fired call for service at 2300 W. 11th Street. When officers arrived, they discovered 30-year-old James Moore deceased from gunshot wounds. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the deceased victim to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy and next of kin was notified.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. Detectives were able to determine there was a shots fired call in the area the previous day and the homicide happened at 11th and Thayer Street. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.

#Update: On June 2, 2023, 20-year-old Omarion Taylor was arrested and charged with Capital Murder in the death of James Moore.
