On September 14th, 2022, at 11:55 AM, officers in the 12^th Street Division responded to a report of a suicide at 2409 Center Street. The 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot and locating a female possibly deceased.  Officers arrived on the scene locating a deceased female inside the residence. Responding officers were unable to confidently determine what occurred at the time of the initial response. Due to unknown circumstances, the Homicide Detectives were requested to respond and investigate further.

The Homicide Unit responded and sought a search warrant before resuming their investigation. After the preliminary investigation, detectives determined this incident was not a suicide, but a homicide.  Detectives later charged Jamaal Johnson with Murder in the 1^st Degree and Possession of a Firearm by a Certain Persons.  The victim has been identified as Teresa Jones of Little Rock, AR.

This homicide occurred in the 12^th Street Division and is a domestic-related incident. The next of kin has been notified.
