LITTLE ROCK – It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that the City of Little Rock announces the death of City Manager Bruce T. Moore. City Manager Moore passed away peacefully overnight in his Little Rock home. He was 57.

City Manager Moore was the longest-serving city manager in Little Rock history. During his time in service to the residents of Little Rock, City Manager Moore personified servant leadership. He earned awards and accolades from across the country and around the world for his effective management, organization and expertise. He was dedicated to improving the City of Little Rock and to making life better for 2,500 municipal employees and for the residents and visitors to the state’s Capital City. He will be greatly missed.

City Manager Moore began work for the City of Little Rock more than 35 years ago, first as an intern and then as assistant to the mayor and assistant to the city manager. He was named assistant city manager in 1999 and became City Manager in 2002.

As City Manager, he was chief advisor to the Little Rock Board of Directors on policy and operations. He was the City of Little Rock’s lead for the Clinton Presidential Center project. He played an essential role in producing and organizing annual Little Rock Nine commemorations.  

Bruce T. Moore was a native of El Dorado. He had an Master’s in Public Administration from Arkansas State University and a Bachelor’s Degree from Henderson State University. He served his country as an Army reservist in Operation Desert Storm, and he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. He is survived by a son, Luke Thomas Moore; and his fiancée, Siobhan Osborne.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. has ordered Little Rock city flags to be flown at half-staff until further notice in memory of City Manager Moore.
