Patrol Officers with the 12th Street Division responded to 2000 South Pulaski Street for a “subject down call for service” call for service on Friday, March 31, 2023. When officers arrived, they discovered 46-year-old  Jason Davenport suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near the intersection of Charles Bussey and Pulaski Street. MEMS and RESCUE responded and attempted life-saving measures, but Mr. Davenport died at the scene. Officers secured the area and notified Homicide Detectives. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the body of Mr. Davenport to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The Crime Scene Search Unit responded shortly after Homicide Detectives. A preliminary investigation began as detectives canvassed the area for witnesses and video surveillance. The next of kin was notified. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
