Sand Bags for Citizens to Pick Up

(Little Rock-AUGUST 30, 2012)

          The City of Little Rock Public Works Department reports the availability of sand bags for pick up and use by the citizens of Little Rock.

“Sand bags are being filled for citizens with concerns of flooding due to the approaching tropical storm,” said Assistant Public Works Director Jon Honeywell.

 The sand bags will be filled and stocked at two locations within the City.  One location is the City’s Central Maintenance Facility located at 3313 J. E. Davis Drive and these sand bags will be available from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00p.m Thursday August 30th and Friday August 31st.  A limited number of sandbags will also be available at the Central Fire Station at 7th Street and Chester Street from 3:00pm to 6:00p.m Thursday August 30th and 7:00am until 6:00pm Friday August 31st.

With the predicted heavy rainfall, Public Works also cautions the traveling public to be very careful during this rain event and not attempt to drive through streets that are covered in water.
