On July 4, 2024, at 4:42 p.m., Northwest Patrol Officers responded to 12614 Saint Charles Blvd in reference to a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered a minor child suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. MEMS responded and transported the minor child to a local hospital where she was placed in critical care until she succumbed to her injuries a short time later. Simultaneously, the scene was secured and LRPD Detectives began an investigation. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner transported the deceased body to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the next of kin was notified.

Homicide Detectives along with the Crime Scene Search Unit were notified and responded. During the investigation, detectives transported three individuals to the Major Crimes Division where they were interviewed. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
