Township Builders, Inc. will begin mobilizing March 10th on the 1.8 million dollar project on Main Street which will improve water quality as well as begin the implementation of the Creative Corridor.

Township is no stranger to Main Street.  The Little Rock construction company previously worked on Main Street in the 1980’s by dismantling Urban Renewal’s Main Street Mall that was created in the 1970’s.  Owners, Spence & Kathy Churchill along with General Manager Jim Hulme are excited about creating north Main Street’s new look.

This project will include the installation of new curbs, sidewalks, street lighting, porous pavers, rain gardens, bio-retention basins, and other low impact development landscaping improvements.

Mayor Mark Stodola said that he is thrilled to start construction on a first phase of the Creative Corridor, a project on which he has been working on the last three years.  “This is the project that developers have known was going to take place.  It is the primary catalyst for north Main Street’s recent economic development.  If you walked down Main Street last year, you saw that it was very different from its hay day when stores were bustling with activity.  Projects like this one are what is going to revive the very heart of Arkansas – Main Street Little Rock.”

Current plans call for construction to begin on the east side of the 100 block and then move to the east side of the 200 block.  North bound traffic will be detoured while construction takes place.  The time frame for the 300 and 500 blocks have not been determined since it will depend on material availability.  Construction of all four blocks is expected to take around 8 months.
