LITTLE ROCK –  With the Independence Day holiday approaching, Little Rock city officials are encouraging residents to leave fireworks to the professionals. Personal fireworks use and celebratory gunfire are violations of city code.

Fireworks complaints are common around the Fourth of July, so the City asks residents to report illegal fireworks activity by email to LRPDFireworksViolations@LittleRock.gov. The temporary email address will be monitored starting at noon Friday, June 30, until after the holiday. All emails will be reviewed by Emergency Communications personnel and assigned to a Little Rock police officer. Residents will receive an automated acknowledgment of their complaint, but should not expect direct contact with an officer. If officers directly witness illegal activity, violators will be cited and illegal fireworks confiscated.

Use of the email address for fireworks complaints allows responders to handle those complaints as well as emergency requests much more effectively and efficiently during the holiday. Residents are reminded to call 911 for suspected gunfire or any fireworks-related injuries or property damage.

Non-emergency reports can be made to (501) 371-4829.

Personal use of fireworks is illegal, and can lead to injury or property damage. Residents are asked to celebrate the holiday by watching professional, licensed displays.

The loud noises from fireworks can also cause stress, fear and anxiety for others and for pets. Residents are asked to be good neighbors and refrain from using fireworks.
