Opportunities for 12th Street Corridor to Be Discussed

(Little Rock – September 12, 2008) The City of Little Rock announced today that Amber Perry, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 6, Brownfield Projects Director will be speaking at a meeting on Monday, September 15. It will take place at 5:30 pm at the Willie L. Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center, 3805 West 12th Street.

Ms. Perry will give an overview of Brownfields efforts in Arkansas, with special focus on Pulaski County efforts. She will also discuss current Brownfields grant programs that are available. There are three current Brownfields grant application programs: Assessment, Petroleum Site Assessment, and Job Training Program.

Following Ms. Perry’s presentation, there will be a discussion about opportunities for Little Rock’s 12th Street Corridor initiative to utilize EPA Brownfields grants as a component of the current revitalization efforts. The boundaries for the 12th Street Corridor are Woodrow Street to University Avenue from I-630 down to 15th Street.

City Director Ken Richardson commented, “We are pleased to have Ms. Perry come to Little Rock. Throughout the country, there are success stories of Brownfield success stories leading the way for community revitalization. As we look at the 12th Street Corridor and other areas of Little Rock, and, indeed the whole county, we must make sure we are using all available opportunities and resources.”
