Overby Circle Homicide

On Tuesday, March 8, 2022, just before 2 a.m., Little Rock Police Officers responded to a ’cutting just occurred’ call for service at 29 Overby Circle. Communications advised MEMS and Rescue responded to an unknown code blue call for service at the address. MEMS and Rescue arrived and discovered the victim, Benito Guzman-Martinez, of Little Rock, suffering from an apparent stab wound. Information was then obtained by officers of the potential suspect, Vicente Garcia Nicolas. The suspect fled the location on foot prior to officers arrival. Mr. Guzman-Martinez was later pronounced dead after lifesaving measures. His body was later taken to the Crime Lab for autopsy.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Search Unit were notified and responded. At approximately9:50 a.m., officers responded to the 600 block of Poinsetta in reference to a Hispanic male with apparent blood on his person. When officers arrived, they discovered Vicente Garcia Nicolas. He was taken into custody without incident and transported to UAMS for medical treatment. At the conclusion of the his treatment, he was subsequently charged with 1st degree murder and transported to PCRJ. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the Northwest Division.
