NEW PARKING SYSTEM INSTALLED IN RIVER MARKET DISTRICT

Pay and Display Will Enable Drivers

To Use Cards and Change to Pay for Parking

(Little Rock, AR – October 2, 2013) The City of Little Rock is in the process of installing the Pay and Display parking system in the River Market District. The payment units were installed the week of September 22 and the software to process the payments has been calibrated.

Currently the signage in the River Market is being changed to indicate Pay and Display instead of 2 Hour Parking.  While the signage is being switched, there will be no tickets written for the 2 Hour Time or for the Pay and Display.

“Since there could be conflicting signs, issuing tickets this week would be unfair to the public,” said Jack Wrenn, Little Rock’s Parking Enforcement Administrator.

For the remainder of this week (October 2 – October 4), Parking Enforcement personnel in the River Market District will be showing drivers how to use the new payment system.  From Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11, Parking Enforcement will begin issuing tickets when people have not paid to park or the payment has expired.  However, this first week the tickets will only be warning tickets.

Beginning on Monday, October 14, Parking Enforcement will begin issuing tickets with fines for drivers who have not paid to park in the areas covered by the Pay and Display units. The Pay and Display hours will be Monday through Friday from 8am to 6pm.

During this transition from 2 hour parking to Pay and Display in the River Market, parking meter violations in other areas of Little Rock still will be enforced.
