LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 29, 2014) – The City of Little Rock announced today a series of public meetings with Little Rock Police Department Chief Kenton Buckner.  Meetings will take place in each of the seven city wards.  Representatives from the Little Rock Board of Directors will join Chief Buckner at their respective wards.  This will be an opportunity for all Little Rock residents to meet Chief Buckner and discuss a variety of topics.

“I’m looking forward to having honest conversations with our citizens,” said Buckner.  “Community involvement will be a key factor in the success of our crime-control model.  These meetings are the first step in a relationship-building process between our police department and Little Rock residents.”

The first meeting will take place on Aug. 4, and will continue through Aug. 21.  The public forum format will allow attendants to get to know Chief Buckner while discussing Little Rock’s future.

City Manager Bruce Moore explained the importance of community participation in the public forums.

“Chief Buckner’s focus on deterrence and preventive intervention is an early sample of his proactive crime-control approach,” said Moore.  “We want the public to understand the vital role they can play in the development of an effective crime-control initiative.”
