LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Oct. 2, 2014) – The City of Little Rock will partner with neighborhoods across the city to celebrate National Night Out. This initiative is part of a national effort that promotes involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.

National Night Out will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 7.  The events are organized by neighborhood resource centers across the city. The resource centers recently made the transition from alert centers in an effort to better serve local communities.

Andre’ Bernard, director of the City of Little Rock Housing and Neighborhood Programs Department, explained the meaning of this citywide program.

“National Night Out is an example of our commitment to community involvement,” said Bernard. “These are the types of partnerships and services that we envisioned for the resource centers. This also shows our renewed commitment to community-oriented policing.”

Nationally, this neighborhood effort involves more than 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities. In Little Rock, the City will host 14 events in partnership with more than 30 neighborhood associations.
