What: Unveiling of Median Improvements
When: Thursday, May 5, 2011 – 10:00 a.m.
Where: 12th Street and Fair Park Boulevard
A long ignored median at Fair Park Blvd and 12th Street has received a facelift and will now be an important reflection of the revitalization that is ongoing in this area of Little Rock. On Thursday, May 5th at 10:00 a.m. a new sign that has been placed on the median will be unveiled. This will be the culmination of months of planning and hard work.
The Fair Park Residents Association teamed up with the Little Rock Parks Department, UALR, Keep Little Rock Beautiful and Methodist Family Health to landscape the median island with groundcover and install the new sign that will greet drivers and pedestrians as they enter this neighborhood.
This is all a part of a greater effort to build a stronger, vibrant and more connected neighborhood in this part of our community. The Fair Park Residents Association’s partnership with the City of Little Rock is a prime example of the value and impact of volunteer engagement, community building and organizing – particularly during tough economic times.
The 12th Street Corridor has a Master Plan in place for its renewal, which includes a new LRPD Sub Station that will be a part of a mixed use facility. Also, new sidewalks and traffic flow patterns are a part of the vision for the future of this area.
