WHEN:  Wednesday, Sept. 16, through Friday, Sept. 18, 11:30 a.m.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – For the fourth year, adults in the Little Rock Parks and Recreation Therapeutic Recreation Program are packing their bags for a fun, event-filled overnight camping trip.

“This particular activity fosters independence. They have to function in an environment away from home overnight.” says coordinator Sherrie Shinn. “You usually age out of camps like this. Plus it’s the fun of going camping with your friends!”

This year’s participants range in age from 21 - 45 years old. More people have enrolled for the trip this year than in any of the years past.

The getaway begins Wednesday evening with drop off, campfire and dinner. Thursday and Friday campers will enjoy canoeing, archery, team-building activities, hiking, arts and crafts, fishing and other camp activities.

*Visuals: Campers begin their activities after breakfast Thursday with a 9:30 a.m. hiking trip followed by archery and team building games. After lunch is arts/crafts, canoeing and lighting the campfire.
