[LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS] – April 1, Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola and Clinton School of Public Service Dean Skip Rutherford join six (6) Central Arkansas Mayors and more than 1,700 mayors across the country in a day of recognition to highlight the impact of national service on city challenges.

Mayor Stodola will welcome Mayors Rick Elumbaugh (Batesville), Jill Dabbs (Bryant), Michael Watson (Maumelle), Joe Smith (North Little Rock), Art Brooke (Ward) and McKenzie “Mack” Riley (Wrightsville) and National Service Members from across Central Arkansas, to recognize the important impact national Service Members make in communities across Arkansas and the Nation.

The nation’s mayors are increasingly turning to national service and volunteerism as a cost-effective strategy to address city challenges at a time of fiscal constraint.  This event will recognize the hundreds of AmeriCorps and Senior Corps members serving in cities across Central Arkansas, providing vital support to city residents. 

The Mayors Day of Recognition for National Service is a national bipartisan effort to recognize the positive impact of national service in cities, to thank those who serve, and to encourage citizens to give back to their communities.
