Markham Street Resurfacing from Broadway to LaHarpe)

WHAT:           Little Rock Public Works Department reports temporary lane closures of:

Markham Street from Broadway Street to LaHarpe – Hwy 10.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 20, and Sunday, Aug. 21, and continuing Saturday, Aug. 27, and Sunday, Aug. 28.

These lane closures are necessary for milling and the subsequent resurfacing of this section of Markham Street.  There will be some delays in travel through the construction area.  Traffic will be allowed through the area, but because of the mobile nature of these construction processes, there will be a need to transfer traffic from one lane to another.  Barricades and other traffic control devices will be readily apparent.

This work is necessary to prepare for milling the old surface and the subsequent application of a new hot-mix asphalt surface on this section of Markham.  New pavement markings will also be applied.

This work will take place over the next two weekends and will require periodic lane closures.  We choose the weekend work to reduce the impact on workweek rush-hour traffic. Milling and other preparatory work will begin Saturday, Aug. 20, and Sunday, Aug. 21. The resurfacing overlay work is scheduled to begin Saturday, Aug. 27, and be completed Sunday, Aug. 28.  All work will be done between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., weather permitting.

Every effort will be made to maintain the flow of traffic around the construction equipment, but some traffic delays can be expected.  Some travel delays will occur; motorists should use 2nd Street and 3rd streets or even I-630 to the south for their east and west downtown travel needs.

WHERE:     Markham Street from Broadway Street to LaHarpe – Hwy 10.

WHEN:           Aug. 20 - 21 and Aug. 27 - 28
