Fees Going Up In A Few Days

LITTLE ROCK, AR (January 12, 2009) - Athletes have until midnight Thursday, January 15 to take advantage of the registration discounts for the seventh annual Little Rock Marathon (and companion races), presented by the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, slated for Sunday, March 15, 2009.

The Little Rock Marathon is a project of and benefits Little Rock Parks & Recreation.

Discounted registration fees for all races will end midnight, January 15. Online registrations must be completed by midnight CST, January 15 and mailed registrations must be postmarked by January 15 to take advantage of the discounted prices.

Fees are discounted when you register online.  Online registration fees before midnight January 15 are as follows: $70 for the marathon, $60 for the half marathon, $42.50 (per person) for the relay marathon, $30 for the 5K, $30 for Classic Rockers and $20 for the Little Rockers Kids Marathon. Mailed registrations post marked January 15 are approximately $10 more than online registration fees.

After midnight CST January 15, online registration fees will be $80 for the marathon, $70 for the half marathon, $47.50 (per person) for the relay marathon, $35 for the 5K, $35 for Classic Rockers and $25 for the Little Rockers Kids Marathon. Mailed registrations are approximately $10 more than online registration.

Online and mail in registration will close temporarily 11:59 CST on March 2, so volunteers can prepare for race weekend. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by March 2, 2009. Entries postmarked after March 2, 2009 will be held until registration resumes at the health & fitness expo on March 13-14 at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock.
Registration fees will be higher at the expo.

Race organizers anticipate more than 9,000 participants on race day.

Little Rock Parks and Recreation (LRPR) oversees 53 parks, four community centers, the Adult Leisure Center, War Memorial Fitness Center, four swimming pools, two tennis centers, the River Market, the Riverfest Amphitheatre, three golf courses, and the MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. The LRPR system includes more than 5,000 acres of designated parks and open space.
