(Little Rock – March 27, 2009) A partnership of public and private entities has announced that a clean up of MacArthur Park originally scheduled for Saturday, March 28, has been postponed until April 4.
“Following the recent rains, the conditions are not ideal for a clean up,” said Truman Tolefree, the City’s Parks and Recreation Director.
“We have had a great response of people volunteering to work on this day, but could always use more,” Tolefree noted. “Anyone can come down and help, we just ask them to bring their own protective gear and gloves.”
The City of Little Rock will provide trash containers and bags, as well as water and lunch for the volunteers.
“We look forward to seeing everyone in MacArthur Park on Saturday, April 4,” said Sharon Priest, Executive Director of the Downtown Little Rock Partnership. “As the City’s first park, MacArthur Park has been the site of many memorable events. This is an opportunity for people to work together to keep Little Rock’s first park beautiful.”
For more information, call 501-375-0121. The cleanup is co-sponsored by Little Rock Parks & Recreation, MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History, MacArthur Park Group and Downtown Little Rock Partnership.
