At 2:30 a.m. on Saturday September 16, 2023, Downtown Patrol Officers responded to an accident at 500 East 2nd Street involving an officer with the Little Rock Police Department. The officer, Paul Riley, was not on duty and currently assigned to the extended leave unit to fulfill a military obligation.  Officers found Riley passed out inside his vehicle. He appeared to be intoxicated and therefore taken into custody without incident and transported to PCRJ where his blood alcohol level tested at .219 which is twice the legal limit. He was charged with DWI and has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an Administrative Investigation. He has been with the Little Rock Police Department since May of 2023.
