Little Rock Police officer Stephen Henry was recognized with a letter of commendation on Sunday after helping a woman and her two children find shelter on a cold night in March.
Henry, 25, had responded to a family disturbance that left the woman and her two children without a place to stay after her brother kicked them out of the house.
After Henry and his partner dropped the woman and her children off at a hotel, she called asking for help. She shared with him that she didn’t have money to pay the hotel and wouldn’t be able to get into a nearby shelter until the following evening.
Officer Henry returned to pay for the room to keep the woman and her children from spending the night outdoors in the cold.
Sgt. Christopher Bonds presented Henry with a letter of commendation from the department on Sunday.
