Those looking to open their own small business can take the first step by applying for the City of Little Rock’s Entrepreneurial Training Course that begins later this month. Space is limited for the 10-week class that begins Feb. 20, 2017.
“The Entrepreneurial Training Course is for anyone who has ever wanted to start their own business or to turn a hobby or skill into a career,” said Chauncey Holloman Pettis with the Little Rock Small Business Development Office. “The City of Little Rock is committed to nurturing entrepreneurs and small business growth.”
The Entrepreneurial Training Course is conducted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Small Business and Technology Development Center. The course covers a wide range of topics for business owners such as business concepts, feasibility, market analysis, pricing and cash flow. Each participant receives assistance with creating and completing a business plan.
Classes are held Monday evenings from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Willie Hinton Neighborhood Resource Center on 12th Street.
According to Pettis, hundreds of Little Rock residents have participated in the program over the years. Graduates have gone on to create successful businesses, including Arkansas Flag and Banner, Imprentta Printing and Little Rock Climbing Center, among many others.
Tuition for the course is $100 for Little Rock residents, which helps cover textbook cost, business plan preparation and ongoing counseling.
