WHO:  Little Rock Fire Fighters, Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola, Karla and Beckham Allen with Ozark Water Projects

WHAT:  Mayor Stodola and Little Rock Fire Fighters will join with Karla and Beckham Allen from Ozark Water Projects at a press conference to kick off the 4th annual shoe drive.

Ozark Water Projects collects all types of used shoes—flip flops, tennis shoes, dress shoes, etc.—that are in wearable condition.

Shoes collected at these drives are exported by Ozark Water Projects to distributors in South America, Haiti and Kenya where they are then sold or used for barter. These shoe re-sales build the local developing economies of these countries and help to protect the new owner’s feet and overall health from foot abrasions, parasites and mites.

Funds generated by these re-sales are used to purchase well-digging rigs, water purification systems, and other supplies to bring clean, fresh water to those in need in developing countries.

WHERE:  Little Rock Central Fire Station, 624 S. Chester Street, Little Rock, AR 72201

WHEN:  Friday, February 28, at 10:30 a.m.
