Little Rock Wastewater to Aid in Restoration of Clinton’s Water and Wastewater Systems

(February 7, 2008 -- Little Rock, AR) Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola and Little Rock Wastewater CEO Reggie Corbitt, P.E., today announced that Little Rock Wastewater (LRW) would be offering aid to the City of Clinton after the tornado and storms on Tuesday, February 5.

Little Rock Wastewater has been in contact with the city of Clinton’s water and wastewater manager. Tuesday’s tornado has impacted that city’s water and wastewater system; much of the equipment needed to restore service to their residents has been destroyed or damaged.

According to Corbitt, LRW plans to mobilize available crews, equipment and bottled water to Clinton on Friday, February 8. “We will work to assist in restoring water and wastewater service to their residents and to offer assistance to the community in any way possible.” Little Rock Wastewater’s efforts are a component of the ARWARN network of ‘Utilities Helping Utilities.’

“After the tornadoes ripped through Little Rock in March of 1997 and January of 1999, other cities in Arkansas and throughout the U.S. offered assistance to us,” noted Mayor Stodola. “While we escaped major storm damage this week, we know that other Arkansas cities were not as fortunate. This is our opportunity to return past acts of generosity by aiding others.”

“I am pleased to see the men and women of Little Rock Wastewater helping their fellow Arkansans,” said Mayor Stodola. “In times like this, when the water and wastewater systems are inoperable, we realize how much we take for granted. I am grateful that the Citizens of Little Rock, through Little Rock Wastewater, can offer aid and support. We must also remember the citizens of Clinton, and all the other affected areas, in our thoughts and prayers.”
