For the 3rd straight year, Little Rock’s own Catholic High School ROTC team has finished first in the National High School Physical Fitness Championships. And in their very first year of existence, the Mount St. Mary’s ROTC team also claimed the national title.
Here at the City of Little Rock we are very proud to be home to these amazing students! At the beginning of the 4:00 p.m. agenda setting session on Tuesday May 29th, these athletes will be recognized by the Little Rock Board of Directors. Their Coach, Sgt. Major Jernigan, will accept plaques on behalf of both teams and introduce the team members to the Board.
“We want these young residents to know that they are an important part of our community by being such exceptional role models,” said City Manager Bruce Moore.
The National High School Physical Fitness Championships is held in San Diego each spring. Only the top 50 males and female teams make it to this level. The United States Marines Youth Foundation funds the trips for this elite group of teams.
