What: Little Rock Fire Fighters Train Junior Cadets

When : Today – October 7, 2013- 10:30 a.m.

Where: LRFD Training Academy - 7000 Murray Dr., Little Rock, AR 72209

The inaugural class of the Little Rock Fire Department and Little Rock School District Junior Cadets will be put through their paces in a hands-on demonstration, Monday, October 7, 2013, 10:30 a.m., at the Little Rock Fire Department Training Facility, 7000 Murray St.

 

In addition to a meet-and-greet with LRFD Chief Greg Summers, a 20-member Jr. Cadet team will test its skills in:

 

      Physical Ability

      Hose roll/ Unroll

      Hose Drag

      Dummy Drag

      Ladder Extension

      Sledge Exercise

      High Rise Hose Carry

     

LRFD and LRSD announced their partnership and the introduction of the Junior Cadet Program for rising high school juniors and seniors this past April.  The program provides students with hands-on experience and education in the field of fire safety with introductory firefighter courses and the appropriate facilities and equipment to do live simulation drills.

 

The Junior Cadet Program is offered at the Metropolitan Career Center and there are approximately 40 students who attend the cadet classes.
