(Thursday, May 3, 2007) –One of Little Rock’s oldest City commissions launched one of the newest websites today. In an event at Little Rock City Hall, the City Beautiful Commission, founded in the 1940’s, publicly debuted its new website: https://www.facebook.com/LRCityBeautiful/

According to Commission Chair Lynn Mittelstaedt Warren, the website not only promotes the Commission and its efforts, but serves as a resource for other organizations and individuals who share the mission of enhancing Little Rock’s appearance and quality of life by promoting and providing supervision of its natural resources and surroundings.

Among the Commission’s initiatives is the sponsorship of six different awards each year. Those are: Eye of the Beholder, Landscape, Polish the Rock, Little Rock Star, Little Rock Landmark, and Little Rock Green.

Additionally, the City Beautiful Commission oversees enforcement of components of the City’s Landscape Ordinance. Links to the Landscape Ordinance and related ordinances, as well as information on previous variance requests are available. The agendas and minutes for Commission meetings can be found on the new website.
