(February 13, 2008 -- Little Rock, AR) The River Market District will be playing host to a variety of special events and activities on Sundays over the next few weeks. In anticipation of the increased number of people downtown, Little Rock City Manager Bruce T. Moore today announced that the River Market would be open on several Sundays in the coming weeks.
The Market Hall of the River Market will be open from 11:00am to 4:00pm on the following Sundays:
March 2 – 6th annual Little Rock Marathon. This year the Marathon starts and finishes at the River Market
March 9 – Crain RV Show at the Statehouse Convention Center
March 16 – 2nd annual Arkansas Inksplosion! Tattoo Convention at the Statehouse Convention Center
March 23 – 20th annual Community Easter Sunrise Service in the Riverfest Amphitheatre. Also the 2008 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament – First and Second Rounds at Alltel Arena
March 30 – 3rd annual Arkansas Sculpture Invitational in the River Market Pavilions
April 6 – 5th annual Arkansas Literary Festival in the River Market District
“Last fall, we discussed having the River Market open on select Sundays throughout 2008,” stated Moore. “At the end of March, all vendors within the River Market will be polled to determine how they fared with the Sunday business. At that point, there will be an evaluation regarding the effectiveness of remaining open on select Sundays throughout the year.”
