LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Sept. 14, 2015) – The dedication of a new sculpture will be the highlight of the Little Rock Animal Village’s annual celebration Saturday, Sept. 19.

The “Pawty” event, held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., also will include a volunteer recognition ceremony, a “Paws In Style” fashion show, a bouncy house for children, and a microchip station in addition to refreshments, prizes, and giveaways.

This marks the eighth year of the Animal Village at 4500 Kramer Street. The sculpture by artist Lorri Acott, titled “Who Rescued Who,” stands around 6 feet tall and is dedicated to the late husband of At-Large City Director Joan Adcock.

“The Animal Village is a place that has been a big part of our family since it opened. My own animals came from there,” says Adcock. “Similarly, the Animal Village has touched the lives of thousands of families over the years. That connection is what this sculpture means to me.”

The Adcock Family Trust provided funding for the sculpture. Other funds donated in memory of Jack Adcock went toward purchasing medicine for animals at the Animal Village.

So far this year through Little Rock Animal Services, a total of 1,734 animals have been adopted, returned to owners, transferred to rescue groups or placed on the Rescue Waggin’.

“We are so proud of what we have accomplished and continue to accomplish at the Little Rock Animal Village. Over eight years we have surpassed every expectation,” says Manager Tracy Roark. “We will continue to set bigger goals and increase our efforts in caring for the animals of our city.”

Little Rock Animal Village features a fully staffed veterinary clinic that regularly hosts low-cost spay and neuter services, an adoption center, five large play yards for dogs, and a learning center where volunteers can promote animal welfare and public safety initiatives.
