(Little Rock, AR—February 20, 2009) Little Rock Public Works Department reports temporary closure of the eastbound lane of Kavanaugh between Palm and Jackson Streets from February 23 through March 4.

The closure is necessary because new sewer lines are being installed as part of a large sewer rehabilitation project in the neighborhood.

The street will be closed each day from 9:00am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday. All excavations will be filled or steel plated at night. A detour route will be provided for eastbound traffic.

Motorists in the area are encouraged to use extra caution in the area because of utility workers as well as drivers unfamiliar with the closure. In addition, though the street will be open at night on weekends, motorists are encouraged to drive with care due to the presence of metal plates in the street which can cause an uneven driving surface.
