(Little Rock – August 1, 2006) -- On Saturday, August 5, at 10:00 am, Little Rock Parks and Recreation will host a time for area children to help plan a new playground in Little Rock’s Riverfront Park. The event will take place in the "Peaks" -- the blue awnings which border Riverfront Park next to the River Market.
As part of ongoing upgrades to Riverfront Park, a new playground is being planned. “We wanted to give the users – children – the chance to tell us what they would like to see,” said LR Parks and Recreation Director Truman Tolefree. “At the City, we often have design sessions with adults when we are working on projects. But this is the first time we have ever asked younger people to share their ideas with us.”
“We encourage families to come down to the River Market; shop at the Farmer’s Market; and then come upstairs for air conditioning, refreshments, and the chance to shape the future of the Riverfront Park,” said River Market Manager Shannon Light.
