On Saturday, September 17^th, 2022, at 4:13 A.M., officers in the Northwest Division responded to 9501 Baptist Health Drive regarding a report of a possible shooting. Officers were informed that the victim was at the hospital's Emergency Department. The driver that brought the 27-year-old male victim to the hospital fled the area before the arrival of officers. The victim later died as a result of his injuries.

Just after 5:30 A.M., officers and detectives responded to 1300 John Barrow Road, Taco Bell, after a delivery driver reported observing blood on a vehicle. Further investigation determined the original incident involving the victim transported to Baptist Hospital occurred inside the business at Taco Bell.

Homicide Detectives and the LRPD Crimes Scene Search Unit responded to the business to collect any items of evidentiary value for this investigation.  Detectives canvassed the immediate area for witnesses and worked to review surveillance cameras in the area. The victim’s injuries were reported to detectives to be lacerations, reportedly caused by an edged weapon. Throughout their investigation, Stephon Dillard, 27 years old, was determined to be the suspect in this homicide. Homicide Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Dillard for Capital Murder.

Later in the evening on Saturday, Mr. Dillard surrendered himself to officers at the Northwest Patrol Substation. Mr. Dillard was later interviewed by detectives and served with his arrest warrant for Capital Murder.

This investigation is ongoing and the next of kin has not been notified. The victim’s identity is being withheld until the next of kin has been notified. This Homicide occurred in the Northwest Division.
