LITTLE ROCK – The Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatic Center will remain closed due to a small electrical fire that damaged the sauna and portions of the locker rooms early Monday morning. The fire was quickly contained and no one was in the building at the time of the fire.

“Our staff is working to get the Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatic Center reopened to the public as quickly as possible,” said Truman Tolefree, director of Little Rock Parks and Recreation. “We are thankful that no one was inside the building and that the damage was contained.

The Little Rock Fire Department is conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire.

“Safety is a high priority for Little Rock Parks and Recreation,” Tolefree continued. “The Center will remain closed until the investigation is complete and initial cleanup has occurred. Patrons of the Center should call or check the City’s social media channels to confirm reopening before visiting.”

Members will be credited with an additional number of days to account for the time that the Center is closed.

The Jim Dailey Fitness & Aquatic Center serves over 200,000 visitors annually with amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, quality fitness equipment as well as an indoor gym and walking track. The Center can be reached by calling (501) 664-6976.
