LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 22, 2015) – Jennifer Godwin has been hired as the communications and marketing manager for the City of Little Rock, City Manager Bruce T. Moore announced Wednesday.

Godwin will lead the City’s communications division, managing public relations outreach, serving as the primary contact for media, and supervising the City’s government access channel, Little Rock Television (LRTV).  She will be responsible for developing communication and content strategies for a wide variety of City initiatives.

“I am excited to have Jennifer joining the City Hall family,” Moore said. “She brings a wealth of experience to the City in both traditional and new forms of media.  I know she will put these to work ensuring that the public and media are aware of the City’s numerous programs.”

Before coming to the City, Godwin was the associate director of digital strategy at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. During her tenure, she led many successful initiatives, including the rollout of UALR’s website redesign. Godwin’s background includes journalism, marketing, print and web design, project management, and content strategy. She spent 12 years at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, transitioning to the newspaper’s online news division when it was created in 2007.

“I am thrilled to be joining the City of Little Rock in this role,” said Godwin. “I’ve lived in central Arkansas for nearly four decades, so I’ve had the privilege of seeing our community blossom into what it is today. I’m eager to share with the public all of the wonderful stories and truly impactful projects taking place in our capital city.”

Godwin is an active disability rights advocate, serving the past three years as chair of the National MS Society’s Central Arkansas Walk MS event. She also is the youngest member of the society’s Arkansas Leadership Council.

An Honors graduate of Henderson State University, Godwin currently is pursuing a master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
