Patrol Officers with the 12th Street Division responded to Arkansas Children’s Hospital at 4:40 p.m. on March 10, 2023, in reference to injuries to an infant. When officers arrived, they spoke with hospital staff who advised the child had injuries consistent with trauma. It was later determined the father, 30-year-old Demetrick Green Jr., caused injury to the child. An investigation ensued and subsequently, Mr. Green was charged with 1st Degree Battery. Per staff, injuries were consistent with violent shaking. On March 12, 2023, the infant, Demetrick Green III, succumbed to injuries at 11:20 a.m. Later, the Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the body to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

Homicide Detectives were informed, and the charges have been upgraded to Capital Murder for Demetrick Green Jr., based off the findings of the Medical Examiner. The next of kin was notified. This investigation is ongoing and occurred in the 12th Street Division.
