LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – An animal transport vehicle from Wisconsin affectionately named the BarkBus is en route to the Little Rock Animal Village for its inaugural canine carriage.
The transport program is a new collaboration between the Animal Village and the Fox Valley Humane Association in Menasha, Wis. Fox Valley was one of the many destination shelters participating in the Rescue Waggin’ program through PetsMart Charities that sent more than 2,500 dogs to new homes in during its six years of operation.
Out of that program, a strong relationship developed between the Animal Village and Fox Valley, leading to the creation of a new transport program between the two.
“I cannot thank staff and volunteers enough for finding a way to continue with a transport,” Animal Village Manager Tracy Roark said. “These animals deserve second chances and forever homes, and Fox Valley came to the rescue in more ways than one.”
After trekking more than 800 miles, the Wisconsin shelter will pick up 30 dogs from the Animal Village on Wednesday, Aug. 10.
