HONEYWELL NAMED NEW PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

(Friday, November 14, 2013) – Little Rock City Manager Bruce T. Moore has announced the appointment of Jon Honeywell, P.E. to be the next Director of the City’s Public Works Department. Since July, Honeywell has been serving as Interim Director of the department.

In making the announcement Moore said, “This is an exciting time in the City of Little Rock and the Public Works Department due to the passage of the 2011 LRCENT sales tax and the 2012 bond program reauthorization.  Jon has been actively involved in planning the Public Works components for each of these initiatives.”

“As I thought about the qualities I value in a Director of Public Works, I sought someone with not only professional expertise but also a commitment to the concerns of citizens,” said Moore.  “Jon excels in both of these areas.  It has been my pleasure to work with Jon in various capacities over the past eight years.  I look forward to working with him in this new role for many years to come.”

A native of Central Arkansas, Honeywell holds a Professional Engineer certification.  He joined the City of Little Rock in April 2005 as a Civil Engineer for Public Projects.  In March 2012 he was promoted to Assistant Director within the Public Works Department.  In that position he oversaw the Civil Engineering and Operations divisions.

Honeywell succeeds Steve Beck who retired earlier this year.

The Public Works Department consists of several divisions and offices including Administration, Building Services, Civil Engineering, Operations, Parking Enforcement, Recycling, Solid Waste Services and Traffic Engineering.
