Little Rock’s Racial and Cultural Diversity Commission will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month tomorrow at 10:30 a.m. in the Arkansas State Capitol Rotunda with the Arkansas National Guard and special guest Governor Mike Beebe.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year from September 15th through October 15th. It’s a time to recognize the rich culture and contributions made by Hispanic and Latino Citizens. This year, Michael Ortiz will share his experience, strength and hope as he made his way from an immigrant from Puerto Rico to a high ranking officer with the U.S. Army. He was awarded a Bronze Star for his service in the Gulf War and is currently working with Arkansas Veterans and their families at the Department of Veteran Affairs.
