The Little Rock Zoo and Hiland Dairy announced today they will celebrate their partnership a little differently this year. Because of COVID-19, the organizations cannot celebrate with the traditional Dollar Day with thousands of Arkansans visiting the Zoo at once. Instead, they are spreading the fun out over several days with Hiland Dairy Dollar Week. This will allow Arkansans to take advantage of the annual family event safely. From Sunday, July 21, to Friday, July 31, 2020, all Zoo daily admissions will be $1 and parking will be free.
The Zoo will also sell Hiland products for only $1 including iced tea, milk and other beverages.
Hiland Dairy is an annual sponsor of the Zoo and has committed nearly $700,000 to the Zoo in the form of cash sponsorships and in-kind product donations over the last eleven years. Hiland is again renewing their annual commitment to the Zoo in in-kind product and cash sponsorship including a $10,000 capital gift for new furniture for the Zoo Pavilion. They will also sponsor the Zoo’s virtual Wild Wines event in September. Formerly Coleman Dairy, Hiland Dairy is proud to sponsor this Dollar Week at the Zoo to bring family fun to all Arkansas families.
“Hiland Dairy has a history of over 220 year of serving Arkansas families and communities with the best of the best dairy products and that’s a commitment to families and quality. Hiland Dairy and the Little Rock Zoo share those traits,” said Joy Matlock, Little Rock Zoo Marketing and Development Manager.
“We are so grateful for this partnership that has lasted over a decade. And in that eleven years, Hiland has donated almost $700,000 to the Little Rock Zoo. Hiland’s donations have allowed the Zoo to have events like Dollar Week at the Zoo—as a special gift for all Arkansas families,” Matlock said.
Matlock also stated that Hiland’s support allows the Zoo to continue in its mission to inspire people to value and conserve our natural world.
“This corporate partnership is one in which we could not be more proud. Hiland is committed to quality and Arkansas families—and that is a company we gladly stand beside,” Matlock said. Regular Zoo admission prices help care for the animals and operate the Zoo. Without the generosity of Hiland Dairy, the Zoo would not be able to offer such a great discount to the public.
Clint Albright, representative of Hiland Dairy, shared that Hiland Dairy is proud of this eleven-year partnership with the Little Rock Zoo because “the Little Rock Zoo is all about families.” Albright as shared that he was “impressed with the Zoo’s health and safety protocols put in place to keep all guests safe.”
In addition to providing a sponsorship for the discount week, Hiland Dairy has also provided the Zoo with in-kind product donations for Café Africa and for special events, and has also provided free advertising opportunities for the Zoo on its milk cartons. The annual sponsorship totals more than $50,000 and 2020 marks the eleventh year in a row that Hiland Dairy has made this commitment.
Hiland Dairy Dollar Week will run from Sunday, July 26, to Friday, August 31. Gates will open at 9 a.m. and last admission will be at 4 p.m. with the Zoo closing to the public at 4:30 p.m. Find more information at LittleRockZoo.com or by calling 501-666-7200.
