Free e-waste recycling and document shredding

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (Nov. 12, 2015) – Goodwill Industries of Arkansas has two events planned to celebrate America Recycles Day.

On Friday Nov. 13, Goodwill is hosting Recycle Little Rock in partnership with the City of Little Rock and Keep Little Rock Beautiful (KLRB). The e-waste and general donation drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Goodwill store at 109 West Markham Park Drive in West Little Rock. During the event, residents from Pulaski County and surrounding areas are encouraged to bring electronic waste (computers, printers, cellphones, etc.) and general donations. Shred Smart will also offer free shredding of confidential documents during that time.

On Saturday, Nov. 14 Goodwill is hosting Recycle Bryant, in partnership with the City of Bryant and the Saline County Regional Solid Waste. An e-waste collection and general donation drive will be held at the Goodwill store at 5914 Hwy 5 North from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents of Saline County and surrounding areas are encouraged to bring e-waste (computers, printers, laptops, etc.) and general donations (clothes, shoes, etc.) to the Goodwill in Bryant. Shred Smart will provide free document destruction during the event.

“Events like these e-waste drives raise awareness about the importance of responsible recycling that help our communities and all of Arkansas. It also keeps toxic material out of the landfill. We are glad to partner with the City of Little Rock, Keep Little Rock Beautiful, the City of Bryant and the Saline County Regional Solid Waste on these events,” said Leisa Wamsley, Goodwill’s vice president of donated goods. “Goodwill turns donated e-waste into jobs and gladly accepts electronic waste and other gently used items all year. Donations can be made at any of our 40 locations in Arkansas.”

America Recycles Day, a program of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationally recognized day dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States. Goodwill celebrates America Recycles Day all year long. Last fiscal year, our organization accepted close to 490,000 pounds of donations. For a list of our locations, visit www.GoodwillAR.org.
