On Monday, October 17, 2022, Little Rock Police Officers from the Southwest Division were advised by Little Rock Communications of a ‘subject down’ near the 12800 block of Frontage Road next to Interstate 30. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim unresponsive. Medical aid was rendered, but the victim, later identified as Larry Foster, 61, of Benton, was pronounced dead at the scene. While on scene, officers were alerted to Baptist Hospital where, Demontra Hatfield, 39, of Benton, was with his juvenile daughter who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The juvenile was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The Pulaski County Coroner responded and transported the body of Mr. Foster to the Arkansas State Crime Lab. The next of kin was notified.
Homicide Detectives and the Crime Scene Search Unit responded to the scene and began a preliminary investigation. Detectives transported Mr. Hatfield to the Major Crimes Division to be interviewed. At the conclusion of the investigation of Mr. Hatfield, he was charged with Capital Murder, Domestic First Degree Battery, unlawful discharge of a Firearm from a vehicle, Possession of a Firearm by certain persons, and Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. He was transported to PCRJ. This occurred in the Southwest Division.
