LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Two volunteer fire departments will each receive a boost in the form of an engine from the Little Rock Fire Department on Thursday, April 28. Fire Chief Gregory Summers will hand over the keys to the Sweet Home Volunteer Fire Department and West Pulaski Fire Department.
“It is important that all residents feel safe when it comes to fire protection, and having these additional capabilities with another fire engine will go a long way in ensuring that these departments can continue to provide an essential service to their communities,” said Summers.
The engines are Pierce Arrow vehicles equipped with a 1,500 gallons-per-minute fire pump and 750 gallons of on-board water. They were originally assigned to Engine Companies #1 and #10 before becoming reserve engines.
This makes a total of six engines, in addition to equipment, that the Little Rock Fire Department has donated to area fire departments as well as the Arkansas Fire Academy in Camden.
