Just after 5:30 pm, on Monday December 4, 2023, Southwest patrol officers responded to the area of Geyer Springs Road and Mitchell Drive for a hit and run collision involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they discovered an unresponsive white male lying on the ground. The victim, 66-year-old Mark Behnfeldt, was later pronounced dead at the scene by MEMS.

Accident Reconstruction Officers were called and responded to process the scene and take photographs, collect evidence, and take measurements. The Coroner’s Office was also notified and responded to take possession of the deceased body and it was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab and next of kin was notified.  At this point in the investigation, no charges have been filed pending a comprehensive review.
